Rumbleversethe pro rasslin ‘battle royale from Iron Galaxy and Epic Games, has a launch date: August 11th. The game that is free to play, which mixes the last-a-standing whim from Autumn boys with the cartoon violence from a WWE PPV, will be available on PlayStation 4, Playstation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series X.
Rumbleverse was unveiled in December during The Game Awards 2021. The game’s creator, Iron Galaxy, is co-led by Adam Boyes (formerly of Sony Interactive Entertainment) and Chelsea Blasko, who apparently came up with the idea for Iron Galaxy’s next major project after Extinction. “‘We should do that rasslin‘, “said Blasko, according to Boyes, and so it was.
IN Rumbleverse40 fighters go into a Battle Royale card and eliminate each other with melee attacks, where they collect loot to improve their stats while the ring shrinks. Iron Galaxy’s promotion so far lies in the action’s exaggerated insanity, with disguised rasslers landing elbow drops from the top of skyscrapers.
However, the initial, public gameplay test for “brawler royale” did not go so well, and a month later, Iron Galaxy postponed the game’s expected launch of early access indefinitely and sent refunds to those who had bought early. Since then, Rumbleverse has been given several playtest sessions to enhance the experience.
Rumbleverse‘s first season begins a week after launch, says Iron Galaxy, with a Battle Pass delivering unlockable content to customize your luchador. The game’s Duos mode will also be available, “for anyone with the strength to download it,” says the studio, meaning tag team as well as solo action in Grapital City.
“One thing we found out is that a lot of people who are insanely good platform players, like Mario, Crash, Spyro fans, became the best players, very quickly,” Iron Galaxy co-CEO Adam Boyes told Polygon back in December. “So it’s as much, I think, about how you move around the world as it is about your offensive integrity.”
