10 announces new drama co-production Riptide

Network 10 and the British Channel 5 have once again joined forces to co-produce a miniseries, Riptidesa thriller starring Peter O’Brien, Pia Miranda, Ally Fowler and British actor Jo Joyner.

The first of two Fremantle Australia drama series commissioned by Channel 5 and Network 10 in 2022, the four-part series was created by Jason Herbison (Neighbors, equal to me).

Jo Joyner (EastEnders, Shakespeare & Hathaway: Private Investigators, Stay Close) starring as Alison.

She is joined by Ciaran Griffiths (Ghost Seeker, Shameless), Australian actors Peter O’Brien (Neighbors, winter, unusual suspects), Ally Fowler (Neighbor, Wentworth), Pia Miranda (Mustangs FC, Wentworth), David Berry (A place to call home, Outlander), rising stars Benny Turland (Neighbors, at home and abroad), Asher Yasbincek (The heights), Yazeed Therefore (The hunt, safe haven) and newcomers Sonya Suares and Benjamin Samaddar.

Busy in Melbourne, Alison’s life is thrown into despair as her new Australian husband disappears after a morning surf. Was he caught in a dangerous upheaval, or is there more behind his disappearance than one can see?

Instruction is Scott Major (Like me, neighbors) with Natalie Mandel (Like me, wanted) as a producer. Fremantle will distribute the series internationally. Casting by Thea McLeod.

The series that springs from Neighbor production universe, comes while the long-running soap takes its last bow, after Channel 5 said it would focus on local drama. But this consumption of 4 hours is significantly less than 200+ episodes per year.

Riptides will be exclusively recorded in Victoria, and has received financial investment from VicScreen.

Production starts this month. Details of the second series will be released later this year.
